Vasiliki Nikolaidi - Profile Photo

My name is Vasiliki Nikolaidi and starting from 2015 I embarked on a fascinating journey that has led me to where I am today — a passionate Data Analyst and a Master's student in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence at the University of Liverpool. My academic roots are in Electrical and Computer Engineering, which I pursued at the University of Patras, Greece, a foundation that equipped me with a robust problem-solving mindset and toolkit, and a deep appreciation for the intricacies of technology.

Professionally, I've had the opportunity to delve into data analysis with QA Ltd, where I employ my skills in automation, statistical analysis, descriptive and predictive analytics, data visualisation and the use of ML and NLP to unearth insights from complex datasets.

My lecturing experience at QA Ltd allowed me to teach a wide range of subjects, from Data Analytics to Advanced Database Systems, refining my ability to convey complex concepts clearly and engagingly. During my time as Software Developer for the Robotics Group at the University of Patras, I contributed to the development of software for Line Following and Maze robots, and Bionic Prosthetics which enhanced my software engineering skills, flexibility with C++ and Python and demonstrated my commitment to applying my knowledge for communal and educational purposes.

Software Developer

Robotics Group, University of Patras, Remote (March 2019 - June 2022)

Programmed IMU sensors in C++ for Line Following and Maze robots for the Robotics Club. Line Following robot "Dromeas" has competed and won in 3 international robotics competitions.

Acquisition of biosignals from 30 individuals, analysis and engineering of EMG Signals in C++ and Python for bionic prosthetic arms.

Developed a new family of onset and offset detection algorithms for electromyography (EMG) signals, based on the Teager-Kaiser Energy Operator (TKEO) with low error rates above 12dB.

Biomedical Engineering Intern

General University Hospital of Patras, Greece (November 2019 - April 2020)

Repaired 70+ small and medium sized medical devices including injectors, ECGs, C-arm, chromatographs, monitors, defibrillators, and blood analysers.

Created a desktop application in Python for the acquisition, analysis and pattern recognition of ECG signals to allow for detection of irregular patterns with 93% accuracy.

Established detailed acquisition guidelines for new medical equipment and devices, leading to a 30% reduction in procurement errors and ensuring compliance with industry standards, enhancing patient care quality.
